Search for the Colossus II

The search for the colossus continues with even bigger mountains. This time, from is all the way to the top. When I say top, I really mean it! For the Tianmen Mountain, or the Heaven Gate as it’s known in the must see places in the world, you have to catch the longest mountain cable-way in the world, a bus and then yes, 999 steps till you reach the whole in the rock.
But it is worth it. Especially with the fog between both sides.

Zhangjiajie National Forest Park on the other hand has the formations that became such distinct hallmark of Chinese landscape, and can be found in many ancient Chinese paintings. Of course now it is more known for Avatar having been filmed here.

A scene to behold a least once. Ok, just once. I won’t like to climb 999 steps again for sure. One time is enough (and by now I’m in good shape).

Note: the kid in blue with me in one of the photos? interesting story. First time he saw a foreigner! Looking at me so surprised, giving me chocolates, asking for one photo, another one, one more. That innocent expression explains all the Chinese people looking at you strangely when you pass by.
